When Students Lead: Silas’s Story
What happens when students realize they can change the world?
Silas, a 13-year-old Shine student, recently reached out to his team of middle school friends to brainstorm how they could support Shine’s 10-Year Anniversary fundraiser. They tossed around ideas (yard sales, events, and more) and then came up with something incredible.
Together, they pitched their church on hosting an event, recruited parents to help, and designed a family photo day fundraiser. A local photographer will take portraits, while other parents will run yard games, concessions, and even face painting. And the best part? Every dollar will go toward Shine’s 10-Year Campaign to keep theatre tuition-free for the next generation.
This is the heart of Shine: students discovering that their voices, creativity, and actions can make a difference. Silas’s leadership reminds us that our young people don’t have to wait until they’re older to make an impact…they can lead right now.
✨ Because of you, students like Silas know they can shine.
P.S. If you’re in the Frisco area, keep an eye out…this student-led fundraiser may be happening near you: Sunday, September 21 from 5:30-7:30 pm, Grace Church, Frisco
