Turning Toward Growth – Leddy’s Lightbulb Moment in Dance Class

🩰 Turning Toward Confidence: Leddy’s Breakthrough in Dance

At Shine, growth often happens in quiet, focused moments—the ones where a student leans in, listens carefully, and suddenly everything clicks.

That’s exactly what happened for Leddy, an Academy student at Shine, during a recent Leaps and Turns class. Like many young dancers learning pirouettes, Leddy found it challenging to tell the difference between turning right and turning left. What seems effortless onstage can be one of the hardest concepts to master behind the scenes.

But on this day, with the guidance of her instructor and lots of practice, something shifted.

As she focused on her form, she discovered that her knee and arm alignment was the key to unlocking direction. One focused turn later, it all made sense.

“Ohhhh! So when I’m doing a right turn, my arms and legs should open in the direction I’m turning. That makes so much sense now!”

Leddy’s realization opened the door to progress—and pride. She not only learned to differentiate her turns, but also discovered which side felt strongest.

This is what Shine is all about: celebrating growth in motion. Sometimes, a breakthrough isn’t loud or dramatic. It’s a single pirouette—and the confidence to try it again.
